Changing the Roots of Narratives

„I’m a director and acting teacher and I want t say what a wonderful resource the Schott Acting Studio is for actors, directors and all people active in theatre, film and television. I have had the great pleasure and experience of working with Matthias Schott over the years, taking his own online-classes which are some of the best I’ve experienced – inspiring and offering great knowledge of craft – and also benefiting from our in-depth conversations and the work with the many international teachers that he has invited to give classes in his studio. This has opened new doors for me and helped me to discover and learn about different techniques and approaches to work from around the world. In all respects, I think the Schott Acting Studio is unique.“ – Mike Alfreds (Theatre Director UK, Author of „Different Every Night“, „Then What Happens?“, „What Actors Do“)
„I met Matthias in a three month Meisner Technique Foundation Course in 2008. We both were fascinated and his comittment in the work and in the pure art of acting encouraged me to get really deep into it. Today I must admit these months saved me as an actor, it was some kind of a relaunch. And this has got to do with Matthias. If you get the chance to work with him, grab the opportunity. Or just meet him. He is a guy full of true passion and credibilty. (At least for me he is.)“ Tillbert Strahl
„Matthias Schott is an outstanding acting coach and workshop leader. Through the detailed exercises in the workshops and his incredible curated eye, he provides generous individual feedback which has been pivotal on my acting journey. He is a true talent and the classes are not only a melting pot of ideas and experimentation but also fun! I can truly say that without it, my acting journey would not have grown as much. His knowledge, expertise and intuitive eye is unsurpassed.“ Alaa Taha (Playwright/Schauspielerin)
„Matthias is a phenomenal acting coach. I always come back to his teachings, whether it be preparing for theatre or film. Matthias has an engaging, attentive and intuitive teaching style that nurtures each student’s journey. He identifies potential blocks and offers the tools to work through them in order to understand where you need to go to reach a level of higher awareness and understanding as an actor. He breaks down the multifaceted process through a vast variety of exercises which makes the task at hand tangible and approachable, no matter where you are in your acting journey. Matthias’ workshops constitutes both individual and group exercises that shapes and forms each student and attunes to each individual level. Matthias has guided me from a fundamental level, to individual scene- and character work or auditions for schools and jobs. There is a wisdom and deep sense of humanity in the way he approaches each character or scene, teaching us to challenge our understanding of the human experience, be conscious and present in our acting choices, never judge our experience or understanding of the character, but be curious, free and creative.“ – Nina Mariko Sandquist (Schauspielerin u.a. Gangs of Oslo (Blodsbrødre)

„Matthias is an exceptional teacher. He helps students recognize their strengths and guides them to maximize their forte. He provides extra support to improve weak areas without being forceful. Being vulnerable was completely okay because he always had our backs and solutions. While working on craft if difficulties arose, he listened carefully, identified the root cause together, and helped us work through it gently. During the workshop, I enjoyed the exercises, preparations, knowledge updates, and camaraderie with classmates, all thanks to the safe and welcoming environment Matthias provided. I learned a lot and had fun every day. I’m very glad I started learning acting with Matthias, and I highly recommend this workshop!“ – Manu van der Pal (May 2024)

„I was an absolut beginner when I sign up for the foundation classes at Schott Acting Studio. Already at the beginning of the registration process I saw that Matthias is taking great care of everything. From answering almost immediately every question that I had to sending all necessary informations I need including location map. Acting classes were held in a beautiful and peaceful location with an amazing group of people and Matthias, our kind, carrying and friendly coach with whom I discovered a „new me“. These 4 days of intensive acting classes were energizing, fun and such a great experience! I know already now that this will not be my last class and I’ ll be back again.“ – Max Steubl (May 2024)
„If you have ever thought of taking an acting class (and also if you haven’t until now), I highly recommend doing the foundation workshop with Matthias. He has an amazing way of gently guiding you on this journey to explore the human experience in all of its complexity, to understand yourself and others better and how we interact. He creates a trusting environment, really brings the group together and gives perceptive, individual feedback to help everyone grow over the course of the workshop. It is the kind of intensive experience that leaves you energised and hungry for more! Couldn’t recommend it more highly!“ – Tanja (May 2024)
