Freeing the actors potential – An introduction to the “Brahe Mask Work” with Nikolaas von Schrader

The „Brahe Mask Work“ is all about the imagination, will force, creativity and charisma of an actor. The heart of this work is to release the body’s hidden potential and to open up the instrument for new, yet undiscovered impulses and ideas. We’ll work with special, hand carved wooden masks from Bali, which are not to be compared with the more common „neutral mask“ or the “commedia dell’Arte“. In addition to that we’ll engage in dance improvisation and elements of the Chekhov-work.

This workshop will help you to make yourself more available to your emotional world and move past blockages, obstacles and negative beliefs in your life. An intense and playful approach to oneself and your potential as a performer.

I’m convinced that the essence of art is rooted in our fantasy. We create unique images in our imagination and through that characters/images/stories will come to life. They connect to our emotional world and to that of others.

With this introduction to the mask world, I want to send you off more inspired and motivated for your work as an artist.
