John begann seine Schauspielausbildung mit dem Hampshire County Specialist Speech and Drama Course, wo er als bester Schauspieler ausgezeichnet wurde. Nach Abschluss des Kurses lernte er für weitere drei Jahre an der Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in London und zwei weitere Jahre im Bereich Theaterregie bei Sam Kogan und dem Moscow Institute of Theatre Arts.

Nach seinem Abschluss arbeitete er als Schauspieler und Theaterregisseur bei Produktionen wie der britischen Premiere von William Mastrosimones „Cat´s Paw” sowie Mike Leighs „Ecstasy”, was von den Kritikern hoch gelobt wurde. Die Kritikerwahl der Time Out sowie die What´s On urteilten es sei “ganz einfach das beste Schauspielensemble, was man seit Jahren am West End sehen konnte”.

Inspiriert von seinem Erfolg gründete er seine eigene Firma, die Miracle Tree Productions, für die er das hocherfolgreiche Stück „Beyond Ecstasy” schrieb, Regie führte und spielte. Die Show erfreute sich sowohl in London als auch in Edinburgh an ausverkauften Sälen und wurde erneut zur Kritikerwahl der Time Out sowie des The Guardian und gewann als beste Theaterproduktion den Creative Freedom Award.

Auf Anfrage von Freunden und Kollegen baute er schließlich eine Ausbildungsabteilung in seiner Produktionsfirma Miracle Tree Production auf und begann regelmäßig Stunden und Workshops zu Schauspieltechnik und Grundlagen der Schauspielkunst zu geben. Aufbauend auf seinen Vorkenntnissen des Ansatzes nach Stanislavski begann er mit einem tiefgreifenden Studium der Gesetze der Psychologie und der Menschenkunde und fand heraus, wie dieses Wissen in das Schauspiel eingebracht werden konnte. Der so von ihm entwickelte Ansatz wurde noch um Wissensbereiche aus der Mythologie und Philosophie bereichert, insbesondere um die Weisheiten und Lehren der Advaita Vedanta vom Himalaya. Durch diese fand er seinen Weg zur Meditation, die für ihn den Schlüssel barg, um Schauspielern zu Charisma und Bühnenpräsenz zu verhelfen und war der Moment, in dem die „spirituelle Psychologie des Schauspiels“ (The Spiritual Psychology Of Acting) geboren wurde.

John hat lange in London, New York und Los Angeles unterrichtet. Dabei hat er einige der besten Schauspieler des Vereinigten Königreichs ausgebildet, die mittlerweile in Hollywood, internationalen Filmen, dem Fernsehen, der Royal Shakespeare Company und dem Royal National Theatre zu sehen sind. Johns Ansatz wird als einer der weltweit innovativsten Ansätze für Schauspiel gehandelt.
